Maarten Verkerk (1953) was born in a small village in the middle of The Netherlands.
After the secondary school he studied chemistry, theoretical physics and philosophy in Utrecht.
He did a PhD in Technology and worked for many year in research and management at Royal Philips.
He was the director of a psychiatric hospital and presently he manages an innovation network in health care.
In 2004 he defended a second PhD in the field of technology, organization science and philosophy.
Since 2004 he teaches Christian Philosophy at the Technical University Eindhoven and since 2006 at the Maastricht University.
He is married with Nienke Vegter and has 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
